Masters Prep LOR

Letter of Recommendation

Who are your recommendors?

Your Letter of Recommendations should be ideally written by your professors from college or employers from work/internship or can be both. Generally, most Unis ask mor 3 LORs. In such cases it is advisable to get 2 college professor LORs and 1 industry based LOR. For eg: If you plan on pursuing Structural engineering, it is suggested to get LOR from any professor who has taught you some Structural engineering courses and you have got good grades in those which will also reflect in your transcripts. The second professor can be a secondary advisor or mentor or even the HOD who has guided you overall throughout the college years. These two LORs should talk about your educational experiences and your interests in the field. The third LOR from your industry can be from your work/internship supervisor who has monitored your progress and work experience. This should reflect on your learnings as an employee/intern. It can also show your interests in the field of what you want to pursue.

Besides these three LORs, you can always get an additional LOR from a professor or external person with whom you might have worked on a small project/ paper publishing or any hackathon. This LOR can also be uploaded as an additional credibility to your profile.
